Anna turns three!

"Mommy, I am three. I am not a child," Anna stated the day after her birthday. She has been excited for months about her Cinderella party. She had a cupcake party at preschool the Friday before with her friends, and handed out party beads to everybody. I think she was kind of shy being the center of attention, but at the same time, loved it. We had family (Grandma and Grandpa, Lola and Lola, Mimi and Papa, KB and Brad) and friends (Maia and Joey) over for brunch. Anna's favorite part of her birthday was the total surprise visit from Josey and Cullen! Sarah W. and the kids flew up from Texas and nobody knew except for TJ! Anna (and Kabie, Mimi, Papa, etc ) was so happy. She says her favorite part of the day was "giving Josey a hug." Josey, Maia and Anna put on their princess dresses and had a danced and danced. Easter sunday was fun with Lola, Lola, Grandma, and Grandpa. Dave made most of the meal, with the rest as potluck. James at about ten pounds of beans. Anna wondered if the little piggies hurt because we were eating the ham. I was extremely tired (post call) but Anna and I did make it to church on time! It was so cute, the kids wanted to sit on the same side of the table, next to each other.

Traveling with kids

We spent last weekend in Mpls for a CME...we were kind of dreading another hotel room night with the rugrats- but they were actually really really good! Kristina watched them for 2 days- with Alek too. The kids just love them. When I dropped off A+J and K's apartment, after a few minutes, Anna said to me "Mom, can you leave?"

We spent some time with the Hadlands and the Stevens. The kiddos had a blast playing with all the toys for boys with Ryan and Luke. James was in heaven. It is so interesting to see him drawn to trucks, balls, hockey sticks, etc. It was the first time he has ever played with a sword to my knowledge (a light saber, actually---they have 4) and he knew exactly what to do. He just picked it up and started a sword fight with Dave. Anna learned how to hold a hockey stick and score a goal. Goalie Ryan was nice and let the pucks go by. Ryan and Anna warmed up to each other fairly quickly, and before we knew it, they were off to the bathroom by themselves, going potty. Anna was so excited to see baby Maia...and Jeff! She really likes Jeff. Jamesy followed any sound of crinkling wrappers, like always, and wanted Erica's balance bar, or whatever was going on in the kitchen. That kid loves food. We ended up at Fuddruckers (Fuddruckers friends) where James tried to steal (and did) Maia's cheerios.

The kids were actually good on the way home too. Anna fell asleep mid-sentence in her stroller on our way out of Southdale, while holding her new Easter pez from K. It was a great trip.
